  1. Heaven in His Eyes

I looked at my friend and saw heaven in his eyes
To me this came as no great surprise
He had learned to live with the Savior’s song in his heart
His previous life, a brand new start

The music he played was silenced and replaced with
    Shallow breaths and labored sighs
His spirit grew stronger as his body died
I looked at him and saw heaven in his eyes

They say a man reaps what he sows
From grace to grace he grows and grows
Til at the end after all goodbyes
We look at him and see heaven in his eyes

Now he is gone but we know where
The Father’s arms of loving care
At last! At last! His soul replies
He sees heaven in his Father’s eyes

    Steve Z, a friend
So long my friend see ya soon.

  2. When I first came to the faith, and first arrived at the Spiro's doorstep for my first care group, it was John that answered the door. I was the nervous, clueless, non-believer. John answered the door and he immediately was welcoming, friendly, humble, unassuming and right off the bat, hysterical. From that first encounter, I would learn over the years that John's humble and humorous nature was born of his faith, his love for his family, and his love of music, especially when worshiping our Lord and Savior. John's passing is a reminder to me, and pray many, that it is how we walk through this world and how we work to encourage others to know, accept, love and follow Jesus is more significant than anything else we might "achieve". Thank you John for modeling what a true Christian man and father can be by living a life that is, despite all the challenges and struggles, truly pleasing to our Lord. With prayers of comfort and love for Kathy, Joe, Gabe, and Amanda.
